Voters go to the polls in Canada in the week ahead, and we?ll leave it to their judgment on how to cast their ballot. The need for deficit reduction does not appear to hang in the balance, although as we laid out a month ago, the parties diverge somewhat on their proposed allocation of tax burdens and spending priorities. Interested investors can get access to all party?s platforms on their web pages, so we won?t duplicate that here. But where some may need a program guide is in understanding the implications for who will in fact govern under the various possible outcomes, particularly foreign investors from countries with republican-style governments (as in the US) rather than parliamentary systems.
